Sony A77
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 200, 1/30 @ f22

These gazanias have weathered our mild winter really well. I like to watch their petals unfurl as the sun warms them in the late morning/early afternoon. Cloned away a few too noticeable pollen spots but left most of them. All comments welcome. >=))>

Really pretty! I would be interested in what kind of processing you did as it turned out really cool! It looks like the flower is spitting out pollen! I also rather like the tension created by having the flower face out of the frame.

Eirini: Other than some added vibrance and sharpening this is pretty much straight out of the camera. I like to spend as little time as possible on the computer so I take a lot of time with my capture. For me personally that is where the greatest challenge and reward lies. . . Bill

Beautiful, Bill. It's a dazzling specimen and this image really shows it off. I especially like the way you handled in yellows in the center, which is no easy to do. Perfect color and detail. :toast:

Just one image right? You achieved exceptional DOF at F/22 with a macro. The detail through out is incredible.

John: As of yet I don't stack but I practically wear out the DOF preview button on my cameras. For me the greatest challenge is in the initial capture. Not sure I have the patience/skill to merge a bunch of images in processing although I'm certainly impressed by those who do. . .Bill

Wonderful job here! Like you noted, to get as much detail as you can, using f/22, I've even use f/32, is necessary.

Lovely work indeed, Bill! You've certainly taken a giant leap with the A77 since the last picture I commented on, although the other was at ISO 800. Fine, fine work!
Stacking should be right up your alley. It is every bit as ticky, even more so, as the actual processing is not that difficult. The image taking requires not only a steady hand and a steady subject, but much planning around background, DOF, consequences of overlap and light. In the processing, the only tedious work is locating the artifacts and blank areas. If you have done your camera work right, that is hardly ever much.

This ...this ...incredible! Spit...sputter...and wipe my chin...that is good! One of your most eye-grabbers ever, Bill. The colors, the cropping, condition of the flower... and details...so lively! Print BIG and hang it. OK...I might do one minor thing before going to the publisher...the appearance of a halo over the top petal ...whether natural or not...to us who use photoshop..it looks like a bit more brightening of the b/g green that could be feathered a bit more. Easy cure. My vote for WP! Ha!

Nice warm colors. It has a sunburst feel. I wonder if this image would still work with the center of the flower a little further to the right to create a symmetrical composition.
