This opportunity presented itself while I was tracking a doe and her twin fawns. No real luck with them, but did come away with this.

Brad: Welcome to the finest Flora gallery on the planet and thanks for a fine first post here. Sorry you didn't have much luck with the deer but you certainly did well with this. I like your comp and the lighting especially. My only significant suggestions would be to clone away the small bokeh spot in the lower right quadrant and the blade of grass down there as well. The larger bokeh spots work OK for me. A smaller nit would be to change the image BG to white. The URC blends in too much in the smaller version. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more. >=))>

There is potential here. I would crop out the lower rock, clone out the OOF blade on the LRS and the small OOF highlight just to the right of the lower flower stalk. These are all more distraction than addition, in my opinion. I really like the backlit flowers and the OOF flowers on the left.

I really love the light on the flowers! I also like the OOF ones in the BG.

Good job taking advantage of the backlighting on the fireweed, Brad. I like the curving stem and the way you composed the image. My only suggestion would be to clone out the blade of grass coming into the LRC.

The lighting on the fireweed is great and I like the oof flowers in the background. I too support removal of the leaf poking in from the right...I'd bend it gently out of the way.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I don't take all that many flora shots so getting advice is welcome then it is more likely I can get it right when I do find a subject. :toast:

Brad:

Welcome to Flora.

Strong first post in this gallery. I echo others comment about the blade of grass but otherwise, the image looks pretty good as it is.
