My wife Pam has been admiring a Portland OR blogger who specializes in creating unique floral arrangements that utilize forest and garden items. This is her first attempt...and a good one... (she didn't make me say that.. : >)

Zeiss 35 mm with polarizer and black velvet drop-cloth. Nikon D800e. F18. 5 sec shutter with window light.

Beautiful arrangement and sweet image!
I love all the colourful elements here, as well as the black BG and the frame. I'd suggest experimenting with a frame colour taken from one of the arrangement colours, though, rather than the blue.
Very nice detail.

A beautiful arrangement, Ken. Very artistic. Your wife did an amazing job. Your image makes a very good overall presentation. The arrangement shows beautifully against the dark bg. I am unsure about the angled comp. It makes this look almost like the arrangment is floating in space. Because the log anchors the arrangement, I think I may prefer this arrangement in an horizontal comp.

Outstanding! There's a lot to look at here, it really holds my interest. I like the diagonal movement across the frame. Nice job by both you and your wife.

Love this, Ken! Credit goes to you as the photographer but also to your wife as the arranger. Wonderful variety of colors and textures in this arrangement. It is all seen in great detail against the black background. Lighting is spot on IMO. I like the angled comp but certainly there are other comp possibilities that would also look great. I agree the frame would be nicer in a color taken from the arrangement. I would also like to the see the colored frame thinner too so it doesn't overpower all the minute details in the arrangement. Very nice! :toast:

Great image. I am a great fan of black bg's. I think this floral display can stand on its own with out the added frame.

Ken:
What a fabulous arrangement :jump: There must be over 20 materials used in the arrangement and they come together harmoniously. Good balance of lines, masses and color; a real eye candy with so much to explore. Congrats to Pam.

The photography is first rate too. Rich color with the use of the polariser further enhanced by the black bg and wonderful lighting.

You two makes a dynamic duo. :toast:
