WC 569 - Leaf

I took this Sunday afternoon. Warm weather has melted all of the ice off of the ponds/sandpits I normally frequent, but I found this last remnant in a shallow koi pond at the local convent. I had to pull the ice sheet out of the shadows and into the sun. 7D, ISO 400, f/8, 1/125, 168mm with extension tube(s), small crop.

Neat, I really like all the bubbles with the clear spot and the warm and cold brown tones. Well seen.

Thanks for the comments. William, I think the clear spot is where there is no ice. From another angle, an edge(lip) of ice is visible at the opening. Rick, I have never had much luck with the scenes until this winter. I got a set of extension tubes this fall, and they have really opened up the macro world for me.

Wow, the combination of bright light and all those frozen bubbles is gorgeous. The clear spot provides a great anchor for the comp, too.

Love all those frozen bubbles combined with the warm colors of the leaf. Great comp too with the larger clear spot in the lower left corner and the rest of the leaf extending out from that. The ring of bubbles around the opening helps make the clear area a focal point too. The lighting works well to enhance the bubbles and colors. Nice find and well done, Rob!

Beautiful, Rob. Incredible textures in this image and the bubbles really do nice things with the light.
