Too Gross to Post?

I have been debating whether or not to post this shot. I don't want to gross anyone out, but for some reason this image intrigues me.

I don't know what kind of animal this is (was?) or how it would end up in the woods (skull only) with various fibres (natural and man made) seemingly woven into it. The Daddy-longlegs came out of the skull while I was examining it.

If this photo does not belong here, let me know and I'll remove it.

Nikon D200; f 6.3 @ 1250th; ISO 500; HH; 80%FF.

Nature isn't all roses. This is as much "nature" as a photo of a lovely bird or beautiful landscape. And it's a challenge! Who (what species) was this?

This looks like a fox skull, except I'm not sure the snout is long enough for a fox. However, you didn't say about how big this animal skeleton was. What size was it, approximately?

Thanks for the input!

Rebecka - there was just a skull, no sign of the rest. I think it would be fox/racoon/skunk size. There are plenty of these in the area.

Interesting image, Tom. Certainly graphic. Not sure what else to add except that the spider on top is certainly an interesting element added to an interesting image.

Artsy "wall hangers" are actually a rare use for nature photography, so this certainly belongs in a nature photography forum or gallery. And whose to say this isn't art, anyway?

Excellent light and details, and the harvestman on top is a good commentary on how life flourishes and depends on death.

ID? Not a raccoon. Looks more like a canid, but not like any fox or coyote I have seen. It has a very blunt snout compared to wild canids. My guess would be some kind of domestic dog. Dog skulls are highly variable, due to the great differences in breeds, and the blue fabric is another clue. Those vertebrae and ribs might help in the ID, too.

Good image. The juxtaposition of life and death makes this image for me.
I'm leaning towards dog, as I've just been doing a comparison with my corgi's teeth and there is a general match with his dentition and the ratio of the length of canines to premolars is about the same.
