Purple-throated Mtn-Gem

Olympus E-5, 300mm, tripod
f6.3, 1/6, ISO400

Fortunately, a hummingbird on eggs sits very, very still, because it was very, very dark. This is a female Purple-throated Mountain-Gem at Bosque de Paz, Costa Rica. I thought the nest was amazing for such a tiny bird.

85% of full frame. Some adjustments to Levels. Usual sharpening drill.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

This bird is amazingly well camouflaged but your photo gets it to stand out well. Really nice image all the way around

Excellent work, Jim. You must have had that tripod rock solid for a 1/6 sec exposure. Excellent detail.

AWWWWW!!! This is one of the cutest birds I've ever seen! I like how sharp it is, and and the colors on the bird.

Wonderful nest and bird. Very sharp in a low light situation.

Well done, Jim! Did you hold your breath? I bet that 6 seconds seemed longer! Considering all the disparate elements of light, time and surroundings, this pulled together miraculously well! :toast:

Sweet hummingbird photo Jim. That nest is amazing and I like how it blends with the surrounding habitat.
