Good exposure, nice clean comp. Since the bird was stable perched, a smaller opening would have gotten more in focus. The back third is a little soft.

A nice looking little bird. Looked like some pretty harsh lighting conditions. Always seems there's either too much or not enough light.

Sandy, I think that while the bird gave just enough eye contact and a nice perch, it does look rather soft overall. Seems like the light was pretty tough, and the shadowed side of the bird was brightened somewhat? It looks a little odd to me.

Nice to catch one of the Shrikes, Sandy. I agree with others that it seems a bit soft. It always seemed to be early afternoon and a steep angle when I encountered these.

Can't disagree about the softness issue, but I like the image. The colors seem happy, like they suit this little guy, and the thorns next to its sharp talons paint a different story, one that says, "Don't mess with me".
