Last Light
by Peter Coskun
I shot this the other evening out on the salt river. There was a good chance the sky would explode with color, but with my luck, the clouds mostly cleared from my desired location. I decided to wait and see if anything would happen, and just like that this pink started to appear in the clouds and reflected onto the water. As always, comments and critiques appreciated.

22 commentsSo much to like here, I don’ know where to start. Calm and peaceful comes to mind as I enjoy this beauty. To me the components, lines and subject of this comp are superb and the light raking the trees takes this over the top.
If I could change anything it would be to lighten the upper left of the sky just a bit.
Edit: I would try to recover some detail in the upper right of the river, perhaps by using the sky exposure?

Aaron, I see what you mean about the brights above the mountain, however I wanted that area to be the bright spot to emphasize the peaks. It isn't blown out but the sun was setting just to the right making that area bright anyways.
Ian, I'll have to look at brightening the reflection a bit.
Morris, believe it or not I did not add much glow here, about 5% over the entire image. The light was already glowing and I used the orton layer just so some of the dark's didn't look too dark.
