Great Grey Owl irruption in Eastern Ontario.

HH Nikon d700 , 70-200 at 110, ISO 400 at 1/1000 at F6.7

Got too excited and it is not too sharp but......... will try harder next time. These are amazing to watch.
Suggestions from the digital imaging forum said take off the VR , use single centre focus, and a few other pointers for faster auto focus. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nice, Lindy. I like the composition and the head-on angle. At web sizes, the owl looks fine. It also pops nicely from the bg. Well done.

Nice image, I like the view of the owls face. Could be bigger in the frame, but I would be pleased to have taken it any day! I also like how it shows the habitat the owl was in. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice shot. I like the inclusion of the trees and the choice to crop pano was a very good one.

Very nicely captured Lindy. I too love the pano format and inclusion of the habitat. The head on inflight view is just outstanding.

Very nice image. You caught the owl in a nice pose, wings out like that. It looks sharp to me. The D700 is a great camera, and focuses well. I don't know what your other settings are for bif, but try it with Dynamic AF- area set to 9. Let me know if you need more settings.
