La Sagrada Familia

It was a dark and stormy night.... really it was.

My wife and I were in Barcelona and I convinced her to take a taxi at midnight, in the rain, back down to the Sagrada Familia. You know your wife loves you, or she is numb to your knucklehead ways when she agrees to a trip like this... Either way, I had a partner in crime. I didn't drag a tripod to Europe so when we got to my "spot" to take a shot, all I had was her shoulder to lean on. She put her back to the scene with her legs spread to get a stable base, and leaned into me. We hugged with my arms and camera over her left shoulder and I leaned into her. It was the best and most romantic tripod we could think of.... I remember Barcelona with much affection.

A sultry midnight rendevous ...so well described.

....Marc...you set the bar for creativity ....had I passed by upon seeing the two of you, I would have yelled, "Hey get a room!" But, then you already did.

You posted this just to show your wife and say, "See, I really did need your help for a long exposure, it was legit!.

She is probably smiling...'ya right!".

Nice shot...though I think the people are smallish and I would like to see them more prominant.

I've come to think that there are just as many opportunities at night as there are in the day for photography. This is a great example of that.

Love the story. And Barcelona, too.

I think you made the best use of what you had (weather, time of day, subject, lack of tripod  ). There are things that could be improved or suggested, but I don't think this photo is about technical quality or compositional perfection, but about the story, about enjoying the moment. No?

When I was growing up my mom always ended up helping my dad with his camera equipment - hold this lens, hold this body, carry the film, the filters, etc, etc. After my dad passed away, my brother and I always teased my mom that we only brought her along on our trips so that she could carry our camera stuff. I can't ever remember my mom being used as a tripod though. That's a good one!
