One more cardinal for the road
I hear there's a big snowstorm coming to the East Coast.
Just a few thundershowers headed our way here in Central Texas this weekend.
Hope all you NPN members out there on the eastern seaboard stay safe & warm..
This was taken during a rare snow event here awhile back.
F/7.1, 1/250th, ISO 640, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x ext
Post Script: I added a bit of canvas at the right side & bottom. Near full frame.

Beautifully clear shot! I like the expression & the windblown tuft on his shoulder!

Great vivid colors on the Cardinal. Face is nice and sharp. I wish for a bit more depth to hold the tail. I'm a bit torn on the snow on the left edge of the frame. I think I want either more of it, or none at all.

Beautiful color on the cardinal. I especially like the expression and the snowflakes on his head and face.

B E A U T I F U L capture Howard. I love the detailed head on POV. Your attention to detail and processing is evident but perhaps a spritz of hair/feather spray on those left shoulder feathers would have kept them in place for the shot...

Great shot Howard, lovely detail in the reds. I don't know if you have more room or if this is full frame, but if you have more room including a bit more of the snowy branch might make this even better imo. :toast:

This is an excellent portrait with very well captured details on the face and body. That close, DOF is hard to come by, but I think you've struck a good balance here. I think the snow on the branch is carried well enough by the flakes on the bird
