Crystalline Creek

I found all kinds of delicate crystals formed on the surface of a rivulet near Soda Butte Creek. This is the Round Prairie area of Yellowstone near Pebble Creek Campground which is accessible by car in the winter. The best thing about it you'll have the place to yourself except a few stray buffalo and a wolf or two.

As always thanks for taking a look. Any critique, opinion or anything else you would like to add would be much appreciated.

Very nice, Dean. Love the foreground snow and the reflected sky colors.

The textures of the FG snow and the reflected sky really make this one special. I love that you can see crystals in the snow...good job!

Nice composition, snow crystals in the foreground working with reds of the sun. Nicely executed. The only nit is the mountain feels a bit oversharpened and it stands out.

I dont think it looks oversharpened--looks soft to me (maybe oversharpened to compensate for softeness  ) Anyhow, a pretty winter scene, Dean--i like it overall!

I really like this Dean. Your composition works great and I love the texture in that foreground snow. Beautiful light, colors and reflections all brought together so nice for a wonderful winter scene. Very nice!

Beautiful colors in the sky and water. I like the crystalline structures in the foreground and wish for a larger version to look at those more carefully. The long lead in of the creek works very well.

Woow! Pretty nice! The colors, light excellent. I love the foreground ice very much.
(Careful with the ISO 50 it reduces dynamic range)

The gradient of brightness to the back of the water channel works nicely.

Nice shot Dean, I saw the horizontal on your facebook page and must say that I liked that one more than this version, there was more symmetry in the shot. That said, this one will make for a nice mag cover

I can't wait to get out there next month..we'll definitely have to hook up and do some shooting this time. :wavey:
