Caracal WC 571

This image of a caracal was taken many years ago, but has always been one of my favorite zoo cat images. I failed to adjust the shutter speed and ended up with a blurry photo. What I like about it is that the OOF image has let the bars of the exhibit blend with the tall tufted ears of this cat.

Mamiya C3 B&W film
this is all I recall.
This is from a scan of a print.

I can see why you like this, it has a very pleasant, warm and dreamy feeling.

These are very cool looking cats & I agree, it's being OOF has basically removed the distracting bars..
Hate to see this magnificent animal caged though.
Good entry for this theme John :wavey:

The vertical comp in this image helps emphasize those amazing ears and the OOF vertical lines also help draw attention to the ears, as you mentioned. Love the tufts on the tips of the ears and the cats' expression. I have seen a similar look many times on my own cat's faces. The grainy B&W look also works well for this image, but of course, it would be nice if the face wasn't blurry. However, the blurriness could symbolize the elusiveness or active nature of this critter. But blurry or not, that is one beautiful creature IMO.

very cool cat as photo art, not just the wc. I can almost imagine it being a charcoal drawing of this beautiful feline.

Lucy is right - my first thought was that it was an image of a charcoal painting. Kind of cool!!
