Rise and Fall...Closer

This is a follow-up to a wider shot of the same view as my previous post, Rise and Fall]. I made 85 exposures of this area within an hour. I did some macro shots (See Ice Horns), so this is not one of the closer ones, but I liked the subtle colors in this view, as well as the forms of the ice shelves that form when ice dams form and break up, causing freezing at at various levels as the water level rapidly changes.

Wayne, this is a very appealing composition to me. I follow the flow of the water through the image, thereby enjoying the diversity of shapes and the subtle color palette. I especially appreciate your choice of shutter speed that keeps most interesting textures in the water for me. All the elements in your image work wonderfully together to my eye.

another wonderful ice and water image. I like the softer blues in this one and the elevated ice cliffs. The movement in the water adds an additional layer of interest

This is great, Wayne and you're right the larger version is a must see. In fact, I'm sure that viewing still larger would further show off all the interesting details in the ice. I agree with Nancy Lee that the movement in the water is a fine addition. This is easily my favorite so far.

Wayne, I really like this one! The ice and color look great and I'm enjoying this comp a lot. I also like the looks of the water motion and how it adds such a nice contrast with the ice. Beautiful!

I like the details in this, especially those ice horns (?) on the right. Certainly is cold looking. Good color and exposure.

What a fascinating place to explore Wayne. I could see myself spending hours out there. Wonderful shelves of ice. I find you Ice Horns especially fascinating.

Super neat image! I love the flow of the water & the brittle look of the ice around it! Nice composition...especially like the details in the larger version. I was wondering however if the ice might be a tad over sharpened?

Oh yeah--that's some nice ice, Wayne! The ice is a bit oversharpened, especially in the large version or at least its more noticeable there. Love the stream flow here.

Hi Wayne,

Been tardy and lacking in my comments lately, but wanted to drop in, especially because of my comment on your previous image from here. Exactly what I was thinking and looking for! I love the tighter composition which really shows off the details and character of this frozen scene. I like this very much.
