Zebra Snow

The day after the snow storm, on Sunday morning I spotted this fascinating scene of shadow play on the snow drifts created by a stand of white birch and oak trees. I actually went back several times that day, but this version came out the best in my opinion but I may share a few others. Taken right up the street from my home.

Eva, I sooo love winter shadows! This is really nice. It's too bad that you're posting this now because they just had a "shadows" challenge on Weekly Challenge a couple of weeks ago. Again, very nice shot!

This is fantastic Eva! I just love looking at this. What a wonderful find and you really made the best of it. I enjoy your comp a lot and these shadows are awesome. Feels like I'm right there...wishing I was! I really do love the feel I have looking at this.

Very nice, Eva - effect of the curved shadows is unique. Placing whiter birch trunks where they are anchors the whole composition, very well done.

Eva, this image of winter shadows is very appealing to me. The composition is lovely with the shadows flowing down and through the curve evoking a real energy. The exposure is right on as well. Its always great to get a good image close to home. Well done!!! Chet

Absolutely beautiful. Such a whimsical image. The shadows create tremendous character and the light play is exquisite.

Sweet catch. The curves lines of the shadows vs the straight vertical lines of the trees makes a very nice combination.

I like this version with the curving shadows coming from the trees, but I bet you have some of just the shadow lines, too? Very nice.

Eva, the sweeping curve of the shadows is really nice and I like how the birch trees stand out against the darker trunks. Thanks for sharing!

The shadows and the gentle curve of the gully are wonderful Eva, and the trees stand out beautifully as well. Great image :toast: .

This is very striking and very attractive, Eva. I especially like how the lines of shadows are emphasized by the deep curve in the open snow and the angle that they make with the lines of the tree trunks.

What a beautiful "find," well processed & presented. And aptly titled. I might be tempted to go even further to emphasize the zebra effect by cropping out some of the top, just leaving a hint of the tree trunks to act as reference points. I'd maintain the entire snowy area, and crop just above the snowcrest in the upper right. Love the blues & whites.

This is so cool! I might be tempted to lose the trees and go purely abstract, but I love it as is. In particular, I like the woven banks of snow and, of course, the lines of shadows. It's all so much fun! Excellent take.

Very lovely, Eva. The gentle curve in the shadow lines is quite attractive and contrasts well with the vertical tree trunks.

Eva,

Love the lines and graphics of this. Just a visual treat to see the shadows curve as the they follow the slope of this little gully.

Not a nit, but I'm just thinking this might work better with much of the blue sky bg cropped out - but not so much that you crop in to the top of the far hill. Just a thought. But I certainly am enjoying this as presented.
