Another shot I forgot to post in the forums. Not much to say here, mountains were just unveiling themselves from the clouds for a brief moment. Rich wet saturated sandstone and some fresh snow within a yucca. Tried my best to get those stray grass strands out of the shot, but they wouldn't budge. As always, comments and critiques appreciated. Large version included.

love the contrast between the sharp spikes of the yucca and the dreamlike quality of the mountains. The snow on the yucca lends a lot to the image, particularly as it is reflected further up the image. The flow of the colors is great. An enjoyable image.

There is a lot going on in this scene, but I don't feel that it is cluttered in any way. The details keep my eye engaged throughout the scene. But what I like most about this is the uniqueness of this image that comes from the wonderful mood and atmospheric conditions.

I agree with Brian. All the elements complement each other rather than intrude or clash. A beautiful image of a place that is not well documented. One of your best, IMO!

I like this...but I'd rather you crop a good bit off the bottom of the yucca per rule of thirds. There is just too much yucca fighting for my attention. The mountains are absolutely mesmerizing and I think just a touch of FG is all this scene needs.

Peter, This is really nice!...and I like it a lot. A wonderful scene with some fantastic color. The clouds in the mountains and the touch of snow look great and add lots of interest to this scene. I think your comp works really nice. Very nice work on this!! :toast:

Awesome, Peter. the fog makes the mountains' shape that much more evident, in perfect contrast with the yucca. IMO the orton is a little strong. Amazing image regardless. Nice work!

Thanks everyone!

Navin- No Orton effect was added in this one. All the images I shot this day all looked like they had it do to the falling snow.

Man, do I love conditions like that. The background is wonderful though I find the foreground rather busy here. New snow when it is not covering everything can certainly be tough like that. Still, the Yucca is a classic draw-in and added depth.

Thanks Marc, I definitely wish there was more snow, and there probably was early in the morning when I was shooting in another location with much much more snow. This was the best foreground I could find before the mountains disappeared again.

Oooh, what amazing conditions these were, Peter and what a seemingly unlikely combination of elements. Snow on cact and the red sandstone of Sedona. I like very much how the image is naturally layered. Really nice!

The grass does pull a little, but not to worry. The rest of the image is so strong it overcomes that easily. Excellent color and clouds.
