Stacked boogie boards 2

Sharp-tailed Sandpiper Calidris acuminata

There were a couple of really well coloured Pectoral Sandpipers (rare in Australia) but they refused to come out from behind the mass of Whiskered Terns.
The very alert posture was due to a gunshot from the adjacent paddock - something they will unfortunately be hearing a lot more in a few weeks time with the opening of duck season.

cheers

Wonderful low perspective and background colors really makes this sandpiper stand out. Excellent shot Rob, that stacked boogie board approach works very well.

Another one of your beautiful birds, the low level POV is just great. Excellent job capturing the colors and plumage detail. The water and BG also compliment presentation of the main subject. Very Nice!

Light and color work very nice in this. The clipped reflection is not as troublesome as in the Red-kneed Dotterel image.
