Curved shadows, created by a stand of white birch trees dance on fresh snow dunes in southern New Hampshire. Taken the day after the blizzard of 2013.

Canon 5DM2
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L at 59mm
ISO100 1/160sec f/11

As always, thanks for having a look.

Eva, this is a really nice abstract. The beautiful look of the fresh powder coupled with the nice arrangement of shadows makes this a success in my opinion.

Nice! I like this one even better than the one with the trees in it!

Really like this Eva. The curved shadows look very cool. Now I want to come sliding down through there on one of those aluminum disk like I had when I was a kid, or maybe my old flexable flyer!...

Beautifully seen! The composition works perfectly. I love the curves and lines created by the shadows.

 The shadows are everything in this capture, Eva. Some very nice soft light makes for a peaceful abstract too.

Cool. Have you considered cropping away the bottom (to almost square) to make it more abstract? Because now, the foreground gives some kind of "anchor in reality" that prevents this from going really abstract. Just a thought...

Thanks everyone for your comments. Here is a square crop as Basil suggested and indeed, it does look more abstract. Thanks.

This is absolutely wonderful. I had hoped for this type of abstract when I saw the scene which included the trees! Crisp, interesting, and totally lovely. Nice job

The crop is what I was going to suggest, and it works perfectly, Eva! All about abstract lines, light, and shadow now. :toast:

Oh my! I love how the curves of the shadows change shape and pull my eyes in a big swing from the lrc to the left and back to the urc. The crop is nice, but I prefer the original because the foreground provides a good starting place for my eyes.

I'm getting dizzy! The bottom portion seems to be inconflict with the nice smoothlines above - I might suggest cropping it off. Wind and snow can be a great combo.

The shadows across the slope really set this up. I do prefer the square crop as it focuses more on the lines and curves. This should work well in B&W also.

Eva, the second image really takes the capture to a stronger abstract perspective. I like both, but prefer the second as a final product.
