Salsify Seedhead

This is my first post to the flora gallery. This lovely seedhead was growing just down the street from my house in field. It's the first time I've ever seen these giant puffballs. I happened to be heading home from shooting birds and things and so I jumped out of my car with my shade umbrella and snapped this one off. When I got home and processed it, it was so lovely and I was really determined to get many more. However, this spur-of-the-moment shot is the best I've produced so far. Isn't that always the way? ;)

a vision of loveliness that you have captured here. This is a very special photo, that should inspire you to shoot more floral subjects.

I can see why attempts to improve on this did not work out -- how do you improve on perfection?
The composition works so well, with this excellent choice of scale and DOF.

Love these plants! This is a wonderful image, Jess. I especially like your comp with the more focused parts of the image filling the right side while the left is framed by more indistinct seedheads. Very nice details and great DOF choice. This looks great for handheld and being a spur-of-the-moment shot!

Jess:

Welcome to flora and what a great first post to open your account here. This is a really fabulous image and reminds me of Ram's winning entry. Love the radiating lines encapsulated by cotton wool borders and the color in bg.

Look forward to more of your post here.
