We were just getting out of the car to pay the entrance fee for the Pipeline Road when quick on the heels of the ranger came this raccoon. I was a bit concerned because where I come from a raccoon in broad daylight is usually trouble. This fellow walked up to my guide, reared up on his hind legs and wished for a handout. I was amazed at how docile yet confident around us he was, and although he didn't get a treat, he did follow us down the trail. As I was setting up for an image he got bored and climbed up this tree, and at the time his image was the best opportunity I found.

This is a sweet image, such a cute little guy. My only issue is with the OOF branches in the background, the bokeh doesn't seem as smooth as it does everywhere else and the branches are doing some weird duplication thing. I'm not sure if that is from post processing or as a result of the original capture. Anyway, this one is definitely a keeper and it has such a great story to go along with it.

This is a solid portrait shot Chuck; the diagonal line of the tree branch and animal add dynamics to the composition. The branches in the BG may be a little unfortunate, but not a deal breaker and there was not much you could have done in the field probably to avoid them. All I would do is to reduce the brightness of that diagonal branch a touch.

Really nice pose and eye contact is good in this case. But the first thing I noticed was the intense colors, very attractive. I might wish to see just a little more room, not much, around the racoon. I would apportion that extra space to try and make him slightly less centered. I will agree with Vincent about toning the bright tree trunk down a little. Easy fix on an already solid photo.
