Autumn Delight

This Beautiful Aspen Grove is located near my home in Bend, Oregon. I returned to this scene multiple times, waiting for optimal conditions before I captured an image with which I was happy. It is not the most obvious aspen grove in the Central Oregon, but it is my favorite!

21 commentsWelcome to NPN and the Landscape Gallery. Great to see another LF film shooter! There are a few of us here - actually more than a few, so you won't feel alone. ;-)
You'll get the size thing figured out - at least I'm hoping it's not a choice to present a small image. I see on your website that's a good viewing size. Let me know if you have any questions about sizing or prepping for the galleries here.
Love the image. Terrific aspen image. I really like the added reds/oranges of the mountain laurel? Color/saturation and processing looks good. A great first post!
We'll look forward to your images and participation in the forums and galleries! Don't be shy! Welcome.

I went to your website and looked at this in a larger version...Beautiful!

The larger version on your website is amazing, an exceptional capture for me. I especially enjoy the color transition from bottom to top and the trunks as connecting lines between these two areas. Great work in my opinion.

Thanks for the warm welcome. As a newbie here, this community strikes me as a wonderful one. Regarding my Teeny-Tiny image size......HELP! I am borderline incompetent in post processing. I tried to upload a larger image file( I started at 1200 pixels on the long axis and 72 dpi) and my file got rejected for being too big. ( 300kb limit?) I went through several successively smaller versions, and all were rejected until the Tiny version you see here was finally approved. There is clearly something I am doing wrong but I'm not sure what. Please excuse my incompetence! Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the minuscule image size, It was not my intention. Oh, and for Lon and Paul, I am a LF guy. I use a Wista Field 4x5 for all of my prints. It is not the most progressive way to do things but I still love the results.

As for your posting size of images, it will take just a bit of trial & error to sort that out. When I downsize for NPN sized images I make two sizes. I make a larger one first and then just scale the next one down from there. The first size I make is 1200 long side and save 'for web & devices" as optimized 495 sRGB @ 72dpi. Once that's done I just make a copy at 720 long side and save "for web & devices" as optimized 295 sRGB @ 72dpi.
Although the guidelines state 1200 @500 and 720 @300, I get rejections for images being too large. So I just undersize by 5 and it works every-time.
p.s. I'm also a Wista user with the DXIII Cherrywood Field unit....
