For some reason, I didn't get too many landing cranes at Bosque del Apache. In the evening, they tended to come in very late and landed toward the far side of the geese. However, some did stop at the crane pools on their way elsewhere in the morning. This was one of them.

1DIV, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs. f7.1, 1/1250, iso 320, manual mode. Cropped on bottom and left and canvas added on right for composition. Also cloned out the tops of a couple of crane heads on the bottom. Normal processing in CS5.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Good image Dennis. I like the birds position, colors, and bg. The large version is very sharp.

:toast: Great timing, beautiful light. I will be going to Nebraska in a couple weeks for the migration. Have never been so am looking forward to some photo ops. Doubt if I can capture this beautiful close-up. But who knows maybe I'll get lucky!
