Waiting for the Sun

One of my favorite images I shot this past weekend while up at the grand canyon. The sunrise turned out pretty nice, but that was the only light we really got. I was also able to work on some night photography from the rim, which I have been wanting to do for a while. This was about 15 minutes before sunrise when that rich glow from the horizon just illuminates everything. I just love the mood this time of morning between the colors and quietness that ensued. Anyways, as usual, comments and critiques appreciated.

Beautiful image Peter. The depth in the image is wonderful and so are the tones. My only nit is the blue behind the stump seems intense but I wasn't there either. Beauty.

Hi Peter. I looked again at your image on Firefox and the colours look good. Maybe Internet Expl is adding the Sat. Cheers

Ooh, this is nice, Peter. I like the composition - the framing provided by the tree is very nice and directs my attention to the middle-ground features as well as the distant buttes. The light and color all convey the mood here and give this a somewhat dreamy feel. I like this one a lot.

The wood is placed excellently and is interesting by itself. The rest of the scenery is incredible too. This is a fine shot.

Excellent! The detail in the foreground really helps place me in the scene, while the background tells the story of the Grand Canyon.

Nice comp with good depth. Looks a little too blue on my old monitor, too, but I don't have Firefox, so could be IE. A quiet and cold moment for sure. Nicely done.

Yeah it's too blue on my laptop, but im also on IE right now...
Like the depth here, and the tree-canyon combo is a good one. Minor nit: i think it would have been a tad stronger with the tree slightly higher so the horizon would be below the notch in the treetop. Glad you got out there--i usually try to hit GC in winter but havent had a chance lately.

Fantastic old tree Peter. I like the cold feel in the canyon.
