Broken Top Trail

I captured this image of Central Oregon's Broken Top Mountain during an over night trip into the beautiful Three Sisters Wilderness. I've hiked to this little alpine lake countless times in the past but it always seems to be mid day with terrible light. This was a special trip just for this image and some warm sunrise light. I'd like to extend a special thanks to my friend,"Old Mike" for serving as sherpa to help me haul some of my large format gear. While "Old Mike" is older than me, he still runs seven minute miles and has about 5% body fat. That and he's a great beer drinking buddy!

Extremely beautiful, especially so since it's film. :toast:

Very nice image, Mike. The early light is quite good and the colorful flowers and reflection are bonus elements. Sounds like old Mike is a great friend! Chet

Mike,

I like this alpine mountain landscape, but have to say that the color/processing is off to me. Actually, first I'll say that the upper part with the late/early light on the peaks and the blue sky look good. It's getting in to the shadow area at midground and the foreground where I think the color/sat is off. The midground has a lot of purple in the soil and then as you get lower in the frame it gets brighter and considerably more saturated. I can't tell, but I'm wondering if you've embedded the sRGB profile or not. I say that because the image on your website not only looks sharper, but the greens and colors in the flowers don't seem as saturated. Although the purple/magenta is still there in the midground. Just my .02. I really like the scene, color a bit off and too much for my tastes.

FG color saturation is a bit high for my tastes Mike. Otherwise very nice.
