The Garden Castle

I just got back from a long overdue trip to the Drakensberg mountains in South Africa. It was mostly family R&R time (we've got a toddler and baby who keep us quite busy) but I did sneak in some photo sessions...

This is the Garden Castle peak, set in the southern Drakensberg. I didn't really have any epic red sunsets as the sun sets over the mountains and most days there was cloud cover over the mountains to the west as well. I did like how this came out during "blue hour". Combined 2 exposures using luminosity masks.

Nikon D800 with Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8 @ 21mm
f11 @ ISO-200

Hi Morkel. I really like the mood in this one. The starkness of the landscape and the cloud formations are really nice. Nice composition also. Well done.

This is really lovely, Morkel. The balance of light, the dramatic textures, and the overall comp makes for a fine presentation.

Very nice composition Morkel. The FG rock, the dramatic clouds sandwiching some nice light makes this very appealing.

Nicely framed shot Morkel, I would tone down the saturation a bit though.

Morkel, A beautiful scene! I like your comp very much and really enjoy the colors. These blue and greens always look so appealing to me. This image has a wonderful feel. Very nice!
