Nikon 5100 f 5.6 asa 1/125 ISO 160 40mm macro lens tripod mounted. I have not been able to find an ID for it but I was about 1.1/2 in away when I took the photo he was well camoflauged on the leaf as you can see it blended in very well with the leaf this is the front of the bug which I just found out is a lady by larva

Well, that is an interesting critter! Are we looking at the front or back?. . .Is it a type of caterpillar? Can't tell much about it from this image but he certainly does blend into the leaf. One suggestion would be to crop up from the bottom to remove the dark area in the bottom left corner. Also don't forget to post your comments on others images too, George! That give and take is part of what makes NPN a great learning place.

Love bug shots and this one is nice. Good detail in the front area too, including the leaf. I wasn't there, but wondering if the depth of field could have been increased somehow, by changing your position or using a larger f-stop. Good tones also.

Interesting macro, George. A slightly deeper DOF would be nice and it would also help if you could brighten up everything but the bright highlights on the left. It just seems to be a little dark which gives it a flat, dull appearance.
