Bottom of the Barrel

This is an overturned Barrel Cactus that is still somehow alive! It's root managed to stay in the dirt....

I liked the way the fiddleheads seem to be echoing the curved cactus thorns.

Is it too busy?
Comments, criticisms welcome.

Stack of 19

ISO 500, f20, 1/125

I used a smaller aperture than usual to make sure the thorns came out without artifacts.

Fascinating detail of this plant, and I like the contrast in dull and bright colors.

This is quite a range of tones and textures Eirini. A very nice set of contrasts.

Eirini:
Nice contrast between the green active and lively fiddleheads against the brown textured bg of the cactus. The needles looks menacing and maybe the fiddleheads finds protection from predators by staying close to the cactus.
