So peaceful and so suddenly gone. This Pine Siskin fell peacefully to the moss covered ground and instant death. An opportunity to see and record his beautiful color and texture.

A good photo, and sad documentation of an all too common event. There's a nice article in this month's Birdwatching on strategies to prevent window kills.

Thanks for the info about the "Birdwatching" article. I'll check it out.

I have already taken a step that I think will help significantly by moving a feeder that was close to the house to a greater distance. The activity has drawn the interest of a Coopers hawk and he is causing panic by his attacks. He gets some birds and this one and others have panicked and hit windows. Yes sad to have this happen but the opportunity to photograph this while fresh and still, was utilized.

Both beautiful and sad, poor innocent thing. Excellent techs and final result.

This beautiful little bird looks so peaceful lying there on the moss covered ground. . .sad its life had to end this way. :frown: You're sure it was dead? Just wondering because we also have birds hitting our windows. Some seem to just get dazed and/or knocked unconcious and after a bit they slowly come around. But I'm sure some also do die from their "hit". This bird had a nice soft landing in a very photogenic spot. Nicely composed and well taken, Charlie.

We only get Siskins rarely here and they are gently beautiful. The colors here are very nice, just telling a very sad story.

This makes me sad. A beautiful capture to immortalize the very recently extinguished life of this lovely bird.
