A Short Pause

I was out early this morning at the local nature preserve to see what was going on. A high fog morning made for soft lighting. This doe pausing to give me a look was about the best of what I could get today. She was with a group of deer that had just come up the embankment where they had been feeding in the flood plain and were headed towards the woods. Comments and critiques welcomed and appreciated.

Nice portrait Peter, good detail and color. I like the somewhat muted look of the BG. Thanks for sharing.

The exposure looks fine and the background pretty smooth for the area where you have been finding these deer. I notice that the best focus is on the body, however, with the face looking a little bit soft, suggesting your focus point was not on the eyes.

Everything looks pretty good Peter, particularly on the larger view. The color balance appears perhaps just slightly cool. I might experiment with adjusting the vividness of the colors a little as well. The light did not permit catchlights in the eyes unfortunately.
