Many may recognize this oft photographed door at Taos Pueblo in New Mexico. I thought the concept and method of decoration was genius and true to their traditions.
C&C always welcome, and thanks for looking,
Morris

Did you notice that they're all left hands? I wonder how it was actually done? At first, one would think it's easy to do, but thinking about it, there's a lot of logistics at play here. For instance, which came first the hand or the paint? Spray paint or brush? Did the artist clean his/her hand after each stenciling? Or...was the door was already painted white, and the artist applied paint to his/her hand, then pressed down? That might explain all the left hands.

Interesting thoughts, Michael. The prints are actually made by pressing a hand on the white door after making the adobe for the houses. So these are just all mud prints.

Who could resist such a "Pop" photo. This is strongly cultural. Size of the hands varies and I wonder if possibly a family placed their prints.

Neat! If the door is oft photographed I haven't seen it yet! What an interesting individual that got the idea to do this!

What a fantastic cultural image, Morris. I find it very moving-- a deeply personal expression by those who live there. So glad you shared your image of it. Congrats on this WP, along with your other one this week--

Unique style of 'decor' that truly represents their Hispanic origins Morris, great subject matter..
It may be 'oft' photographed, but new to me
Techs look excellent, nice comp with just the right amount of space.
Especially like the adobe textures and complimentary color that frames the door so well
