icicle + vertical repost

Wanted to see how well my new focusing rail worked. This icicle is about the size of a wooden kitchen match. I really liked all of the forms and shapes in the icicle. I had hoped for sun coming through the icicle, but that was not the case.

Canon T3i
1/25 @ F-8 ISO 100
MP-65mm macro 1-5x @ 1x
tripod & focus rail

I decided it had more impact as a horizontal than vertical image.

Well done, John. I also like the intricate forms and shapes, especially those on the left side of the icicle. Your image has nice detail especially considering the magnification. I am a little thrown off by the rotation to horizontal.

Lots of neat detail in the icicle. On your computer, the horizontal view is larger and thus has more visual impact. However, NPN doesn't limit vertical pixels like a standard monitor, so the vertical image would be just as large as the horizontal and feel much more "natural".

Thanks Mark, I was not aware of that feature. Have reposted the smaller image as a vertical

What an interesting shape for an icicle! Although I can't say I have seen many in real life! Where was it dripping from?
