Taken on one of those few sunny days in the northwestern part of switzerland this past february. I was taking pictures for one of my clients when I saw this tree in the late afternoon light. I was fascinated by its play of light and the contrast of warm and cold colors.

While I like the composition -- the horizontals and diagonals, the lines -- against the free form of the tree, obviously out standing in its field, the depth of blue is pretty surreal. On my monitor, the "yellows" are pretty much lost, if not entirely. Could be that I don't have a calibrated monitor.

But long story short, and I've looked at the larger view as well, I think you have a very nice composition here in terms of forms and textures, but the color is a killer for me -- cognitive dissonance. On other planets or on other circles on this one, it may be well received this way. I would rather see it less so, perhaps even B&W or sepia.

I concur with John that b&w might better represent your wonderful find in the capture. I am not sure what John means about yellows since there are none but the blue conveys the cold of the scene.
Well seen :toast:

The strips of blue make a wonderful background for this subject.

Bill, I really enjoy this scene with the lone tree and the lonely, quiet mood it has. Excellent work with your comp and I love the lines from the shadow and highlights. Wonderful textures too. Very nice work here! :toast:
