Also known as Althaea Zebrina, this plant reseeds every year in my flower bed. It can get invasive but I haven't had any trouble just moving the little plantings to where I want them and pulling the others out.

Canon Rebel T1i. 180mm macro lens. F/16 for 1/13 sec. ISO 200. Tripod mounted, natural lighting. Background is the lawn.

I'd love to have this beautiful flower invade my garden.
DOF looks perfect and the colors are great too.
What really makes it stand out for me though is your choice of individual (probably not the correct word for a flower) and composition. The slight bend of the overall shape, the directins of the three unfolded flowers complemented by the one still folded.

Very nice Carolyn,
The colors and the way you framed it out are great.

Absolutely stunning! The BG is crazy good with the flower. My only suggestion would be to lose the added border, for me it doesn't add any value.

A very nice image Carolyn. I like the comp,BG,color. I tthink I would have stacked this image to bring the stem and flower in the back more in focus but that is just me. Well done. :toast: :toast:

Beautiful presentation of the flower. The multi blossoms are all positioned just right, with a good amount of DOF. I like the way the bottom of the stem seems to fade out. Outstanding. However, what I don't particularly care for is the magenta pinstripe & greenish background. They are both too strong, IMO, and distract from the beautiful flower.

What a striking flower! Your DOF & comp are perfect! I am not a fan of the border however & the green seems a little bit too saturated...something that you could easily adjust if you wanted to.

Beautiful, Carolyn. I personally have no problem with the oof blossom and bud. Looks very natural to me, and puts the focus on the main blossom. Like others, I would prefer a thinner frame border.

Fantastic portrait Carolyn...the light and point off focus does this for me. Great art.

Beautiful! DOF w/the bottom soft... is perfect... Like the unopened one too. B/G simplifies and contrasts... like a solo artist on stage. Well done.
