February 16, 2013 taken at Charlie Van Tassel's home in Poway, California. Charlie has a lovely home on several acres tucked into the foothills with a lovely view. His back yard is like an aviary. Depending upon the time of year, there is are a broad range of species that feed there. He has a pair of Road Runners he began to feed to keep them from eating his Hummingbirds. I was fortunate to get photos of both Road Runners. If you get a chance to photograph with Charlie, it is a treat.

Large view is a must see -- I like the background behind the head in the larger view -- very hard to get this roadrunner right because they blend so well into the background -- good job getting him against the rocks

Very nice capture. Perch is outstanding and feather detail and saturation too :toast:

I like the intent look on the bird's face. Was there a lot of saturation added to this? The color of the feathers pop nicely, but the rock in the foreground has a weird tint that looks unnatural to me. Maybe you can desaturate or burn in the rock and still retain the color in the plumage.

Great species, well photographed. Very good detail and sharpness, POV would preferably have been a little lower, but that's just a small nit  . Great job ! Hans

The foreground rock was reflecting very badly. When I burned it to dampen the reflection, this is the color that emerged. Granite is funny because of the reflective qualities in the rock.

Great details & I like the characteristic RR pose Patrick.
Interesting setting/environment with all those large granite boulders as well.
Only nit's the aforementioned color shift LRC :wavey:
