Hang On

This photo was taken in 2010 in the early morning light in August. I like the position in which this dragonfly is hanging from the dried grass. This background was very light, so I tried a bit more of a high key treatment.

Comments and criticisms welcome. Thanks for looking!

Nice one, Jess. I really like the way the dark brownish DF shows against the light brownish bg. The color tones are complementary and pleasing. The pose is also quite good. I wonder about the square crop and the inclusion of the light grass stalk on the far left. This is the only distracting part of the bg. Cropping this would also center the DF. Just a suggestion. This is also fine as is as the three stalks help balance the image.

You've got good dof and detail in the DF including what look like lots of mites on its thorax. Your high key treatment works well.

Great high contrast BG, it really makes the Roseate Skimmer? stand out in your frame Jess.
Nice details and exposed well, like the added interest of those red mites on red too:smile:
