WC #575 - Daybreak Mist

This is one of my favorite mist/fog photos because it was one of those moments that stopped me in my tracks. I had just woken up and crept out of the tent and I was presented with this lovely daybreak over the lake. I couldn't get to my camera, so I grabbed my iPad and took this photo before the misty fog cleared. I hope you enjoy.

Taken with iPad :)
Cropped in PS, some PP in Color Efex Pro 4.0

Not bad for an iPad! Especially if you can pull back in the blown sky which is a major distraction. The mist and shadowy reflection of the mountain in the lake is really nice.

Very lovely scene, Jess! That would be amazing to see when just awaking. The blown-out sky is distracting but otherwise it is a great image. I like your comp with the tree silhouettes on the left, the mountain on the right. and the evergreen trees arising from the mist in the distance. The dark banding along the bottom makes a nice bottom frame for the image. I like the blue color and the darker shade areas in the water. Whole image has a nice soft feel. Now if that sky could somehow be fixed. . .

You've got a nice "soft" feeling here. I like the color bands in the sky, the tree silhouette on the left, and the mist in the distance. I'd suggest cropping half or more of the black band at the bottom.

Nice composition and a pretty good shot for an iPad. There's a lot of extra black at the bottom. I think a crop to just below the visible tree branches would provide a better balance.
