An American Bittern works his way through the grasses and waters edge at Ridgefield NWF.
I spent a few hours at the refuge last saturday and was surprised to spot 3 bitterns all looking for a meal.

Very sharp with great exposure and clarity, like this habitat a lot too Craig.
Natural looking colors, nicely composed.
Really nice look at this bird! :toast:

Excellent pose and detail. I like the way the grasses frame the bird, yet the bird is almost entirely in the clear. Good work!

Good job as this bird is hard to get a shot as he blends into the surroundings -- very nice look and feather detail is very good

An intimate view of this usually secretive species.

Although the colours are subtle they are beautifully exposed and the image is wonderfully sharp.
The odd bit of green in the background adds a welcome bit of brighter colour that contrasts well with the bittern. Nice one Craig.

Very cool habitat capture-good detail, pose, and comp. These guys are not easily seen-nice that you found him and captured such a clean shot.
