Storm Cap, Rainbow Ridge

by Jim DeWitt

Gallery: Weekly ChallengePosted March 14, 201393 views2 comments
The northerly side of Rainbow Ridge holds three glaciers, Castner, Eel and Canwell. Cold air pours down the glaciers, and fog precipitates out of the lower, moisterair, spilling over the crest of Rainbow Ridge on an otherwise clear evening.

Cropped to pano to emphasize the ridge.

Wow, this looks like a huge wave cresting over the valley! Interesting phenomenon to see--all clear except for the mountaintops. Very cool! The pano comp works well for this scene. . .however, a thought would be to crop a bit of the sky off the top. Great capture, Jim.

That's a neat cap of cloud. Fascinating that it's cold air pouring off the glaciers.
