Trying out my new D7000, I went to a local farm for some goat portraits, this little fellow was only a few weeks old.
D7000, hand held, 18-270mm @ 65, F5.6 @ 1/250, on camera flash
all comments and critique sought. Thanks
Bob :wavey:

Nice detail and good use of the flash. A 4:5 crop from the right would get this portrait better placed, IMO.

Nice. The pose really captures the little guy's cuteness. I agree with Phil on the crop. But good work, Robert.

I like that this is shot from below. Gives an entirely different view as to what you are used to from these small fellows.

Very cute baby pic Robert, he looks rather serious, guess you couldn't get him to crack a smile? I also like this atypical perspective and the way the ear seems to create a nice diagonal. I'm not good at flash, but I wonder if a diffuser on the flash might have created a larger and more natural appearing catchlight. Looks like the D7000 is working just fine! :toast:

This is certainly a cute character and this is a pleasing close up portrait. I agree with Gary the camera is doing fine!

That said, this is a good opportunity to remind everyone of posting guidelines in choosing the appropriate gallery for images. The posting guidelines appear in the green bar at the top of the thumbnail page once you are logged in. Parameters for the wildlife gallery are stated there:

"Wildlife Gallery (formerly Fauna) - Wildlife other than birds. Images of captive animals or staged, set-up, and studio shots must be stated as such. Images that include domesticated animals should be posted in the Man & Nature Gallery. Photos of baited wildlife are prohibited."

As moderator, I will therefore move this cutie to "Man and Nature." Thanks for your kind understanding!
