Arizona Springtime

I got together with Peter Coskun and ventured up the Lost Goldmine trail on the south face of the Superstitions finding flowers galore. Many types are yet to bloom but over 10 types are in bloom now. The prominent yellow bloom in this image is Brittle brush.

Nikon D200, Nikon 17-55 2.8, 1/10sec@f9, ISO 100, 2-stop grad ND,tripod.

I quite like the variety of vegetation in the foreground and the off center comp. I'm debating heading back tomorrow evening as there should be some clouds for a nice sunset. Large version has lots of great details to admire.

I like how the color is splayed across the fg and sweeps up the hill. A nice comp as well, esp with the cactus(cactii?) acting as vertical preludes to the rocks.

There is a wonderful colorful yet subtle quality about this image. I also like the comp very much.

Sweet, sweet, and sweet! Not really a critique of this shot, cause i love it, but as Peter alludes to the only thing missing is a cool sky--get that and you'll have the whole enchilada!

Wonderful colours in this Bob. Beautifully subdued and so warm on the mountains. Really nice foreground too. Really nicely done.

I like this, Bob. Nice arrangement of elements in the foreground. I especially like how you have positioned the Sagauro cactus in the foreground so that they line up with the spires. The color is beautiful as well. While the sky is featureless it provides a nice contrast for the glowing peaks so I'm not at all bothered by it. Great work!! :toast:

I really didn't notice the alignment of the saguaros Brian. I'm not sure I'm sold on the large saguaro so centered. It has a way cool shape though- like it's squished. It wasn't all that easy to get a perfect comp working around the pesky jumping cholla, spiny hedgehogs and the boulders. Plus it was pretty steep. Thank you to all that commented- I appreciate your feedback.

A killer shot, Bob. The overall plant life is amazing to view in the larger version. I really like the FG array of plants, but I also like the few (Saguaro?) in the distance at the base of the main peaks. Heck, the geological structures are pretty darn neat too.

Wonderful light here, Bob! I absolutely love this. The blue sky is the perfect compliment to the warm light and flowers and your perspective really shows the peak off nicely.

Very well done photo Bob. The way the slope of the hill and vertical cacti guide you to the nicely lit mountain top really makes this. I actually like the blue sky and how it contrasts the bright yellow flowers and lit up mountain top.

Superb image, Bob. Looks like a beautiful garden terrace in full bloom. The warm light on the rock face compliments the blue sky beautifully.

Fine desert scene. The angle emphasizes the mountains, as does the lovely light.
