Flehmen Response

One of two bulls that spent most of August together and relatively indifferent to my presence. In this instance they came crashing out of a a pine forest and crossed a meadow toward my clearly visible location. At 30 yards this one stretched and laid down. Both looked me over, then napped for more than an hour until this fellow exhibited this Flehmen response, scenting for a nearby female (she was about a mile away). Pretty exciting to see such large animals fully laid out sleeping.

Nice capture of the beharior, especially with such a relaxed, cooperative subject. Very lush meadow. You will have to visit the area during the fall rut, hopefully they will still be willing to be photographed.
