A secret view of Emerald Pool Waterfalls in Dominica

Nikon D300s 18-200mm VR @ 90mm, balanced on fence post.
f/13
1/10s
ISO 800

Minor crop, adjustments in CS5 on 27" iMac. I would have liked a polarizer for this shot... I now have a D7100, 12-24mm lens and a polarizer so images like this should be improved! Thanks for any feedback

This is an incredibly lush scene. I like how you obscured the lower portion of the waterfall -- it enhances the feeling of seclusion, and leaves the rest up to the imagination. Though your settings seem to indicate that it was quite overcast and dark, the light striking the waterfall and also the bush on the far right feels a bit harsh compared to the rest of the scene. Perhaps there is a way to tone down these areas?

It's a little bit busy. The other thing that's a bit distracting is that there are 2 vertical items in the middle of the image, the waterfall and the tree trunk, and they sort of have a dead space between them. On the good side, though, it IS a very lush scene, and that sort of makes up for the business. Pretty good image of the waterfall under what might have been tough conditions, too. Yes, a polarizer probably would have helped, it's a tough lighting situation but the waterfall still turned out well. Good job of keeping detail in the dark areas under the leaves. It's a very realistic looking image; if you've ever been in a place like this, it sure takes you back there. :toast:

This is a lush, beautiful and well balanced composition that portrays the complexities and jungle feel extremely well. Surprised it hasn't seen more commentary. Really nice IMO! The repeating vertical lines and spacing works just fine for me.
