Color Factory

This is from my same spot where I took the previous shot "Island of Illusions".

I had to place the composition a little differently than I would have wanted, but in this case the clouds are the star of the show. I had only several minutes to run out onto the beach between storm cells, which were dumping snow, hail, and rain all at once. Really bizarre weather!

Thanks for looking!

I like this. You've got an original idea and composition. It's refreshing to see some new concepts.

The colors in the sky appear slightly neon / cotton candy like but; I'm guessing they were intense at the time. Looks like a slight halo from processing over the island. I'd fix that and personally even out the contrast over all slightly. (darks lighter lights darker very slight) Simply my taste. If there was a bit more image on the left, I'd like to see it for comp placement.

Little ideas that IMO would make a stronger image for my tastes. I do like this, it's fun to see a new style.

Very captivating Johan. I don't recall ever seeing an island image like this. The clouds on the right provide a secondary subject for me, making the image very dynamic!

I actually wish the landmass wasn't there, as the clouds and reflection are what make it look cool to myself.

This is actually a sunrise and in this spot the colors can be VERY intense. I actually have to pull back on various color channels from the original RAW files in some cases.

The halo above the trees is natural and not processing induced. In fact, this isn't HDR or exposure blended at all. I actually tend to process my images as MDR (medium dynamic range) as it looks and feels more natural to how I witness these scenes.

I agree that it would be nice to see more on the left. That was the compromise I had to make in order to leave the clouds as the main subject. The light shining through on the left, is that same light causing the glow on the right.

Thanks for the feedback!

Beautiful image Johan. Love the ripples in the water and the exploding clouds. Very unusual composition which makes it wonderful to look at. Very well done.
