Yep, this is the same subadult male lion as posted earlier here, only this was taken in the early morning as the rising sun strew rays of golden light trough the bushes. A bit too tightly framed, but I wanted to get in close and throw that BG out of focus.

A B&W version of this is posted in the Photo Art Gallery

A few more images of ‘the occupation’ can be seen on my website

Camera Model Canon EOS-1DX

Hey Vincent. Very nice light. I was watching the pictures of the occupation in your website and the first thinking was "what luck". Maybe in my next trip to Botswana...
I love the light, especially the yellow light surrounding the ears. Love the expression in its face, the control of the DOF with the paws in focus, the BG,... everything. Wonderful image.

Love the little golden rim around the left side of mane and the ears. Terrific natural colours.
I think the tight cropping works here because you've got such a low perspective.
Nice one Vincent

On man, love this! The lighting is subtle and beautiful. I like the close crop, does justice to the beautiful face and intent gaze. Awesome low angle! :toast:

Wow, one really has to see this large Vincent, the light's magical.
Handsome sub-adult specimen, and I especially like those markings about the eyes.
Excellent :toast: :toast:

Absolutely awesome shot Vincent, doesn't seem too tight to me, either.

Lovely light here Vincent. I don't mind the tight frame here, though a wee bit more FG would have been nice.
