The Lotus Flower

At this time I was using my Nikon D-80 with a Nikor 70-300mm zoom lens. ISO 100 1/200sec. f8.o Focal Length 140mm. This was taken at The Huntington Arboretum in Alhambra California. The shot was taken late morning, the lotus flower was in a pond.

William: Welcome to NPN and to the finest Flora gallery on the planet. This is a terrific first post, especially the lighting on the flower. My only tiny 1¢ suggestion would be to darken the bright pod head adjacent to the bloom at 8:00 o'clock. I like the bud in the corner. This is good photography. Beautiful, William ! The lighting is first class, and I like the inclusion of the bud in the lower L corner for added interest and compositional balance. Look forward to seeing more from you !

Its' very subjective on how to compose , but i would have angled my shot more to get the bud closer to the Lotus, the detail, lighting and color are 1st class

Really love the lighting on this William - I would echo the 1¢ suggestion of Bill and Phil - but this has a wonderful feel. The detail, colour and composition are all very pleasing
