Tiger - South India

In the famous Nagarahole Tiger Reserve in South India, the tourism zone has a small pond, which is christened 'Tiger Tank' because if at all there is any better chance of getting a tiger in the tourism zone of 30 sq kms, it is here. Most of my tiger sightings in this Tiger Reserve have centered around this tank. Traditionally called 'Somayyanakatte' this 'Tiger Tank' is the place to be if you have to catch any tiger action.

Fantastic setting, and love the eye-contact as well as the contrast between the striking colours of the tiger against the almost monochrome rock background.

Always interesting to ponder why wildlife prefers certain locations; food, water, shelter, territory...? Remarkable subject, he's really eyeing you. It looks like you didn't have much light to work with, like it was about to rain perhaps. Might try and lighten the image just a little.

Vijay,

your shot looks very natural - and I'm all in favour of natural. However, in this instance I think the impact might be increased with a little more light and a touch more warmth. I know it would take the image away from what you actually saw but no-one else would know.

I really like your composition. Those eyes are really powerful. Nice natural color for the lighting. I agrre with the others that you might want to play with the warmth and light.

Sweet capture. The smallest nit is the unfortunate out of focus branch in the lower left. I think I would experiment with crops to move the tiger either higher or lower in the frame to take it away from exact center, mid-line.
