Arizona Double Rainbow

I was on a camping trip in the Patagonia National Wildlife Refuge in southern Arizona, watching the sun set under a light rain when it occurred to me that there might be a rainbow behind me. After a few stunned moments I grabbed my gear and went searching for a subject for the foreground, and settled on some Mesquite trees. It's definitely the brightest and most vivid rainbow i've ever seen in my life, and I'm so glad I was able to capture it.

Minolta Maxxum 7, 20-35mm lens, 2 seconds at f/11, Velvia 50, Gitzo tripod

Sweet light and comp, Thomas. My only suggestion would have been to include the entire rainbow on the right side. Still, nice as is.

Extraordinary color - I like the warm / cool contrast. I wish that the rainbows were not cut off along the edges of the frame, but you've still captured a nice image here.

Stunning colours Thomas and I like how you framed the trees below the rainbow. A pity you did not use a wide lens to capture the entire rainbow, or even both rainbows! :toast:

I just love the great light n double rainbow!
Wish you had a wider lens, to cover the complete rainbow!

Very nice. The warmth is remarkable and nicely balanced by the cooler tones in the sky

Thomas, an excellent capture. Good thinking on your part to investigate the possibilities to come up with this very fine image. The Velvia added it's nice pop to the scene and provided a wonderful color array overall.

Wonderful! Too bad you did not have a wider lens to capture the full second rainbow. Very fortunate you were to experience this.

The trees make for an excellent centerpiece for the rainbows. Normally a nice telephone pole interupts the best rainbows. Vivid indeed. I wouldn't change anything.

I have come back to this 3X!!!

Only thing I would think to do is turn down the reds in the tree/land a little bit. But not necessary.

Beautiful. I like the light on the trees. If I had one comment it would be to have the entire inner rainbow framed in the picture.
