In the Hills

A sunrise view of Mt Hood from the wildflower fields of Columbia Hills State Park, Washington. I had a really nice morning yesterday in the Hills. Light wind, nice early season wildflowers and singing Western Meadowlarks!

Nikon D800, Nikkor 24-120 f/4 at 100mm, polarizer (light polarization)
7 image blend for depth of field - this one was tough!
6 images for the foreground flowers - 1/50 sec at f/13, ISO 1600
1 image for the mountain/sky/middle ridge - 0.5 sec at f/8, ISO 100

Thanks for any comments or suggestions you have. Larger version is provided.

A truely impressive result, I'd say worth all the extra effort. Although it does look obvious that it's a composite as the horizon line from the foreground shots (flowers) and the BG shot with mount Hood seems to have a disconnect, not quite natural. I don't notice it in the small version but becomes obvious in the larger.

Thanks for the comment John. I appreciate your thoughts and honesty. There was some slight movement of the flowers between the frames which made blending the edges really tough. It's crazy how shallow the depth of field becomes at 100mm.

Beautiful juxtaposition of the elements with an interesting perspective.. Reminds me of a similar telephoto shot by MA a while back.

Scott, I'm really enjoying looking at this. I like this interesting view and the early light is wonderful. The colors and detail in the foreground flowers looks great, then the beautiful glowing light on Mt Hood adds such a nice look and feel. Very nice!
