The Morning After
by Thomas Haney
A member of the Wolf Creek Hotshot crew, and my saw partner, pounds out an ember the morning after an all-night shift on the El Paso fire in southern New Mexico in 2011. I love this photo because it encapsulates what I enjoy about wildland firefighting, and how I wish it was on every fire. In my dreams, I'm alone in the wilderness pounding out embers and taking great photos.
