Gallery: Man & NaturePosted April 19, 2013141 views5 comments
Taken early morning in NE Kansas, fall of 2012. Fog allowed the sunlight to be enlarged and a pleasant tone for the backdrop of migrating robins.

Larry,
A great moment. I think you're right about the fog providing just enough diffusion to make the sun a very nice and pleasing addition to the image. Pleasant tones and color like you mentioned. This works nicely.
Of course because of the fence I'm going to go ahead and move this to the Man & Nature Gallery. Hope that makes sense!
thanks!

Love the diffused light and how the birds compliment the line of the fence. Great timing to catch them going across the sun. Very nice work Larry.

You're right on with this Larry - the fog does create a very pleasing diffused light and to capture all the robins against it, while maintaining some detail in the foreground grasses works really well for this image

I like this Larry, with the diffusion and the soft glow. I haven't seen this many robins migrate together before; must be a NE Kansas thing :).

Rob,
I could be wrong. At first I thought they were blackbirds, which usually are in big groups. With enlargement of the photo I subsequently thought the profile was more like a robin.
I've seen large groups of robins but never this many at once.
So, subject to correction by someone more versed in silhouettes.
